EcoFlow releases new 5-kWh energy storage system
EcoFlow has a new home battery system called the Titan Series, sold in three versions: 5000, 5000 Plus, and 5000 Classic. The top model, Titan 5000 Plus, stores 5 kWh of energy and can put out 7.2 kW of power, and the system can be expanded up to 30 kWh if you want more backup capacity. It's meant to work alongside solar panels you already have, rather than requiring a whole new setup.
Paired with EcoFlow's companion device, the Smart Home Panel 10, the system can manage power to 10 circuits in your house without swapping out your main electrical panel, something that normally adds cost and time to a battery installation. It automatically chooses where your power comes from, using solar first, then stored battery power, and only pulling from the grid when needed. If the grid goes down, EcoFlow says the switch to battery power happens in under 20 milliseconds, fast enough that things like Wi-Fi and water pumps keep running without interruption. You can monitor and control the system through EcoFlow's phone app.
EcoFlow also says it ships the system with breakers and cables already assembled and wired at the factory, which it claims cuts the on-site installation work by up to 80%. The idea is to make whole-home battery backup less expensive and less disruptive to install than older systems that required rewiring your home's electrical panel.
