XPENG Launches in the Philippines With Six EV Variants
This is international car news and doesn't affect home energy upgrades or rebates, but here's what happened. The Chinese automaker XPENG has launched in the Philippines with six electric vehicle variants of two models, the L03 sedan and the X9, a seven-seat electric van. The L03 comes in three battery-electric versions plus a range-extended version (a gas engine that only charges the battery rather than powering the wheels), with prices from about $24,700 to $32,900 and driving ranges up to 520 kilometers on a charge. The X9 starts around $61,700 and can travel up to 615 kilometers, with fast-charging equipment able to refill its battery from 10 to 80 percent in about 12 minutes.
Buyers get multi-year warranties on the vehicle and battery, plus roadside assistance, and each purchase includes a home charging unit — a 7-kilowatt wall charger for most versions. XPENG says it plans to add two more models and expand to eight showrooms in the Philippines by year's end, with deliveries starting in the fourth quarter.
For US homeowners thinking about electric vehicles and home charging, none of this changes what's available locally — it's a market launch overseas. But it's a reminder that automakers are increasingly bundling home charging equipment with new EV purchases, which is worth asking about if you're shopping for an EV and planning to charge at home.
