Xiaomi confirms 2027 Europe EV launch with 8 German dealer groups

September 3, 2026 · Electrek · Score: 0

Xiaomi, the Chinese electronics and EV maker, plans to start selling electric cars in Germany and the rest of Europe in 2027. To get ready, it has signed deals with eight major German dealer groups, including Emil Frey Germany and Hahn Automobile, to build a sales and service network before any cars arrive. This is a different approach than Tesla, which sold directly to customers without traditional dealers.

Xiaomi has already sold more than 700,000 EVs in China since 2024 and says it became profitable within six quarters. Its SU7 sedan and YU7 SUV, which is priced below the Tesla Model Y, have drawn strong demand there. The company is entering Europe at a time when Tesla's market share is slipping and other Chinese automakers are gaining ground, though tariffs on Chinese-built EVs could affect how competitively Xiaomi can price its cars once it launches.

For homeowners, this news does not carry any immediate program deadline or rebate, but it is a signal that more EV choices, and potentially lower-priced ones, could show up in Europe over the next couple of years. If you are weighing a future EV purchase alongside home upgrades like solar, it is worth keeping an eye on how this affects pricing and availability in your market as 2027 approaches.
