Venstar Expands Thermostat Management Platform

August 17, 2026 · ACHR News · Score: 41

Thermostat maker Venstar has expanded Skyport, its free cloud-based system that lets HVAC contractors remotely monitor and manage connected thermostats. The update lets the platform handle more thermostats at once, and it works both through a web dashboard and a mobile app.

For homeowners, this is mainly a behind-the-scenes tool for the contractor who installs or services your heating and cooling system, not something you set up yourself. If your HVAC company uses Skyport, it means they can potentially see how your smart thermostat is running, get alerts if something looks off, and sometimes fix a setting remotely, before you notice a problem or have to call for a repair visit. Venstar says this could mean faster service and fewer in-person visits for routine issues.

This isn't a new product you'd buy, a rebate, or a required upgrade. It's an expansion of software that works with Venstar thermostats already installed in some homes. If you have a Venstar thermostat and your contractor uses Skyport, it's worth asking whether they're using it to monitor your system and what kind of alerts or adjustments that gives them access to. If you don't have a Venstar thermostat, this news doesn't affect your home directly, though it reflects a broader trend of HVAC companies moving toward remote monitoring of home comfort systems.
