Upcoming electric Porsche Boxster spotted with no camo on Nurburgring

September 11, 2026 · Electrek · Score: 0

This story is about a car, not a home energy upgrade, so there's not much here for homeowners planning efficiency projects. Porsche was spotted testing an electric version of its 718 Boxster sports car at the Nürburgring race track in Germany, with almost no camouflage covering the vehicle. The sighting confirms the car is still moving toward production after rumors earlier this year suggested Porsche might cancel the electric Boxster project. Porsche's new CEO had already said in August that the company plans to build it.

The electric Boxster is expected to arrive in 2027 and will share a platform with an upcoming electric Audi TT. Spotted details include reshaped front air intakes, headlights that resemble those on Porsche's Taycan sedan, smaller side air intakes since there's no gas engine to cool, and what looks like a charging door on the rear of the car.

None of this affects home electricity use, rebates, or equipment choices for your house. If you already have an electric vehicle or plan to buy one, home charging setups and any related electrician or utility rebates would depend on the specific car and your local programs, not on this particular Porsche model, which remains a preview vehicle still in testing.
