Unico launches 330kW bidirectional Grid-Tie Inverter
A company called Unico has released a new industrial power device, but it is not something homeowners would buy or install. The product, called a Grid-Tie Inverter, is built for large-scale uses like solar farms, battery storage systems, and data centers rather than homes. It converts power at a scale of 330 kilowatts, and multiple units can be linked together to handle more than 3.3 megawatts, far beyond what a single house would ever need.
The device is notable mainly for being efficient and compact, and for being made in the United States, in Wisconsin. Unico says there's growing demand for this kind of equipment as data centers, solar power, and large battery storage systems become more common. The inverter can handle a wide range of voltages, which lets it work across different types of large energy systems.
For homeowners thinking about their own energy upgrades, this news does not change anything directly. It is a sign that the broader energy grid is adding more large-scale solar and battery storage equipment, which over time can support more renewable power on the grid. But it has no bearing on home solar panels, batteries, or rebates. The device is set to be shown off at an industry trade show, the Battery Show, in Detroit in October 2026.
