These top-selling EVs are on sale for Labor Day

September 3, 2026 · Electrek · Score: 23

This one is about car shopping rather than home upgrades, but it may interest anyone weighing an electric vehicle purchase alongside other energy plans. Several automakers are cutting prices on 2026 electric vehicles to clear space for 2027 models before Labor Day.

Hyundai is offering up to $5,500 off the 2026 IONIQ 5, or 0% financing for 60 days plus no payments for 90 days. Leases start at $309 a month for 24 months with $3,999 down on the base trim, though the SE RWD trim (318 miles of range, versus 245 for the base) is only $10 more a month. Hyundai's IONIQ 9, a three-row electric SUV, is discounted up to $10,000, or offered with 0% financing for 72 months plus an extra $3,000 off, with leases starting at $369 a month. Hyundai's deals end September 8.

Toyota's bZ SUV, which starts around $35,000, offers leases from $439 a month for 36 months with $4,970 down, or 1.9% financing for 72 months. A higher trim with more range costs $459 a month. Toyota's deals run through September 30.

For comparison, Tesla is advertising Model 3 leases starting at $419 a month and Model Y leases starting at $499 a month. None of these deals involve home energy equipment, but if an EV purchase is part of your broader plan for cutting energy costs, it's worth knowing these price cuts and lease terms before the incoming 2027 models arrive.
