Stellantis BOW Takes Autonomous Delivery to The Next Level

September 17, 2026 · CleanTechnica · Score: 1

This one is about vehicle technology, not home energy upgrades, so it has no real bearing on planning a home retrofit. Still, here is what it covers.

Stellantis showed off a concept vehicle called BOW (Box-on-Wheels) at a trade show in Hanover, Germany. It is an electric delivery vehicle with no cab, no driver's seat, and no steering wheel — just a cargo box on four wheels, guided by cameras and sensors. The company built it with a robotics partner, UQI Robotics, to explore driverless delivery, especially for controlled spaces like factories, hospitals, and airports where routes are predictable and easier to manage than city streets.

There are no production specs yet — no announced battery size, range, payload, top speed, or charging time. This is a development project meant to test whether a delivery vehicle designed from scratch around self-driving technology works better than converting an existing van. Because no one needs to sit inside, all the space can go to cargo.

Stellantis has not set a timeline for turning this into an actual product, and driving safely through city traffic with pedestrians and cyclists is a much bigger challenge than operating in a fenced airport lot or warehouse. For now, this remains a demonstration of an idea rather than something homeowners will see delivering packages to their door anytime soon.
