Polestar 4 SUV launches at €57,900 — and it finally has a rear window
This is car news, not a home energy upgrade story, but it touches on EVs some homeowners may be considering alongside solar setups. Polestar has launched an SUV version of its Polestar 4 electric vehicle, priced starting at €57,900 in Germany, with up to 630 km of range on the WLTP test cycle. The notable change from the original coupe version: this SUV has an actual rear window and a standard rearview mirror, reversing a design choice that replaced the window with a camera and digital mirror display.
Every version comes with a 100 kWh battery. The base rear-motor model produces 272 horsepower, while a dual-motor all-wheel-drive version offers 544 horsepower and a shorter 0-60 mph-equivalent time. DC fast charging tops out at 200 kW. Relevant for anyone charging at home: all Polestar 4 vehicles are getting Vehicle-to-Load capability, letting the car supply up to 3.3 kW of AC power through an adapter — useful for running small appliances or as backup power, similar to features some other EVs offer. A new "Camping mode" also turns the parked car into a climate-controlled space.
The SUV is built in South Korea, with production underway and first deliveries expected in the fourth quarter of 2026. Pricing tiers run from €57,900 up to €76,300 for a performance package. No word yet on US pricing or availability.
