Kia’s new PV7 EV van shows up in the US [Image]

September 15, 2026 · Electrek · Score: 18

This one is a car story, not a home energy upgrade story. Kia has unveiled a new electric van called the PV7, a larger sibling to its PV5 van, and a prototype was recently spotted testing in the US. The PV7 is over 17.5 feet long, comes in Passenger (seating up to nine, or eleven in Korea) and Cargo versions, and offers battery options with a range of over 285 miles on the larger pack. It can charge from 10% to 80% in about 25 minutes on a fast charger.

None of this connects to home electricity use, heating, cooling, or rebates for houses. It's worth noting only because electric vehicles can factor into home energy planning if you're thinking about a home charger or how EV charging affects your electric bill, but this particular van has no confirmed US launch. Kia plans to sell the PV7 in Korea and Europe starting in the second half of 2027, with other markets to follow later without specifics given.

The vans are built in South Korea, and Kia's leadership has said the vehicle was unveiled in Germany because it's aimed at the European commercial van market, not the US. So for now, this is a preview of a vehicle you likely won't be able to buy, and it has no bearing on any home energy decisions, rebates, or upgrades.
