Kia EV3 To Give Americans A Cheap Electric Car Option
Kia is bringing a new small electric car, the EV3, to the US market, giving buyers a rare low-cost option at a time when few new EVs are launching here. The base model starts at $31,385 and comes with about 220 miles of range. Every trim above the base offers 321 miles of range instead, and prices climb from there, topping out at $47,385 for the highest trim, the all-wheel-drive GT version.
The EV3's starting price is higher than the Chevrolet Bolt's, but the Bolt is expected to leave the market soon, which could eventually make the EV3 the cheapest new electric car sold in the US.
For a homeowner thinking about home charging, this matters mainly if you're weighing whether an EV fits your budget alongside other electric upgrades to your house, like a heat pump or added home charging equipment. A sub-$32,000 starting price is notable in a market where most new EVs skew toward premium pricing. The car's price and range options are set for now, but broader EV incentives have been shrinking, so it's worth checking what federal or state support, if any, still applies before you buy.
