Hyundai IONIQ 5’s base price goes up $250 for 2027, but it still starts at just $35,250
This is a car story, not a home-upgrade one, but it may still interest homeowners weighing an electric vehicle alongside other electric upgrades like heat pumps or solar. Hyundai is raising prices on its 2027 IONIQ 5 electric SUV by a small amount across most trims. The base SE Standard Range model now starts at $35,250, up $250 from the 2026 version, and offers an EPA-estimated 245 miles of range. Other trims rise between $150 and $400, with the SEL Dual Motor AWD seeing the biggest jump at $1,400. The XRT starts at $46,525 and the Limited trim at $49,125. None of these prices include the $1,600 destination fee.
For comparison, the IONIQ 5 still costs less than a Tesla Model Y, which starts near $40,000, though Kia's EV3, built by Hyundai's sister brand, undercuts it further at $30,000. The 2027 IONIQ 5 is mostly a carryover model — no major mechanical or range changes — with small trim tweaks like roof rails now standard on more models and two paint colors being dropped.
If you're thinking about buying an EV to pair with home charging or solar, this update mainly matters for budgeting: the price increase is modest, and current 2026 models may still be available at a discount as dealers clear inventory for the 2027 lineup.
