Genesis is no longer a dark horse in the luxury space, and the GV90 proves it

August 26, 2026 · Electrek · Score: 0

This one is outside the scope of home energy upgrades — it's about a new electric luxury SUV, not something that affects your house or rebates.

For what it's worth: Genesis, Hyundai's luxury brand, unveiled its new flagship electric SUV, the GV90, in San Francisco. It's a large, high-end vehicle with features like coach doors that open on their own, swiveling front seats, a big pop-up entertainment screen, and a built-in refrigerator. It runs on a 123.5 kWh battery with an expected range around 310 miles and can fast-charge from 10% to 80% in about 22 minutes. The dual-motor all-wheel-drive system puts out 657 horsepower.

Genesis hasn't announced pricing, but expects the standard GV90 to start around $100,000, with the coach-door Neolun version likely starting near $150,000 or more. The company also plans a hybrid version of another model, the GV80, and a longer-range electric vehicle (one that also carries a small gas engine to extend range) launching in early 2027 with over 640 miles of combined range.

None of this ties into home energy efficiency, rebates, or weatherization programs, so there's nothing here that affects decisions about upgrading your house.
