DiversiTech Acquires Surge-Protection Manufacturer
DiversiTech, a manufacturer of HVAC parts and components, has bought DITEK Corp., a company that makes surge protectors and voltage monitors for HVAC and other electronic systems. Surge protectors guard equipment from damage during power spikes, which matter more now that heating and cooling systems come with more electronics and connected features.
The deal combines DiversiTech's broad HVAC product line with DITEK's surge-protection expertise. DiversiTech says this will make protection products more widely available through its distribution network. Both companies say DITEK will keep operating under its own name, with its current leadership continuing to focus on the same products and technical support.
For a homeowner, this is a corporate ownership change rather than a change to any specific product on the market right now. DITEK's surge protectors will still be sold, and the company says it plans to keep serving the same customers while gaining access to DiversiTech's larger scale and reach. If your home's heating or cooling system uses a surge protector from DITEK, or you're considering adding one as part of a system upgrade, this acquisition doesn't change what the product does or how it works. It mainly signals that surge protection is becoming a bigger part of how HVAC manufacturers think about protecting increasingly complex, costly systems, including the kind of connected, electronics-heavy heat pumps and smart thermostats now common in home upgrades.
