AprilAire, a maker of indoor air quality products, has introduced a new filter technology called TriPure for home HVAC systems. The company says these filters catch more pollen, dust, and lint than standard filters typically require under MERV ratings, the common scale for measuring how well a filter traps particles. AprilAire also claims the improved filtration can help lower exposure to pollutants linked to health risks like heart disease and stroke.
Beyond air quality, the company says TriPure filters are designed to let air move through more easily than typical filters. That matters for your heating and cooling system because a filter that blocks airflow forces the system to work harder, using more energy and adding strain over time. A filter that maintains strong filtration while still allowing good airflow can, in theory, help the system run more efficiently.
AprilAire says the TriPure filters last six to twelve months, depending on which specific filter you choose, and that the filtration performance, airflow resistance, and lifespan were tested under a standard industry testing method (ASHRAE 52.2 2017) used to evaluate residential air filters. No pricing or specific product models were included in the announcement, so homeowners interested in trying these filters would need to check with AprilAire directly for availability and cost in their area.
