BYD reveals the new Denza N8L EV, a smart luxury SUV with 960 km of range for about $45,000
This one's a car story, not a home upgrade story. BYD's luxury brand Denza has released an all-electric version of its N8L SUV, previously sold only as a plug-in hybrid. It starts at about $45,000 for the base Premium trim, with a higher Flagship trim at about $49,000. Both use a large 130.15 kWh battery pack, giving a rated range of up to 960 km (about 596 miles) under the Chinese CLTC testing standard, which tends to report higher numbers than the EPA ratings used in the US.
The SUV can charge fast, going from 10% to 70% battery in about 5 minutes using an 800-volt electrical system, with a near-full charge in 9 minutes. It seats six, in a 2+2+2 layout, and comes loaded with premium touches like leather seating, a suede headliner, wood veneer trim, six digital screens, and a high-end sound system. It also includes driver-assist features and a voice assistant that can control smart home devices.
None of this is available for purchase in the US market, and there's no mention of any American release plans or pricing conversion beyond the stated yuan figures. For homeowners, the relevant note is limited: if you already have or are considering a home EV charger, vehicles like this show where fast-charging technology is heading, but there's nothing here that changes your own upgrade or rebate planning.
