BYD launches its ‘biggest-ever’ sales event in the UK with discounts on PHEVs and EVs
This is UK car news, not directly tied to home energy upgrades, but it may interest homeowners weighing electric or plug-in hybrid vehicles alongside home charging setups. BYD, the Chinese automaker, is running what it calls its biggest-ever UK sales event from September 10 to September 21, offering discounts of up to £2,500 (about $3,300) on its plug-in hybrid (PHEV) and fully electric (EV) models.
Deals include the new Dolphin G plug-in hybrid, leasing from £250 ($330) a month with a £1,999 deposit and 1.9% financing, and the Atto 2 crossover from £274 ($370) a month. The Seal U plug-in SUV, one of the UK's best-selling plug-in models, is available from £349 ($470) a month with 0% financing. Several fully electric models are also discounted, including the Dolphin Surf from about £211 a month, the Dolphin from about £308, and the Sealion 07 from about £475.
The promotion comes as electrified vehicles make up a growing share of new car sales in the UK, with BYD's own registrations nearly doubling this year. The company is also expanding its UK lineup with a pickup truck, its first seven-seat SUV, and new models under its Denza luxury brand. For homeowners thinking about an electric or plug-in vehicle, a lower purchase or lease price can also affect plans for home charging equipment, though this particular sale applies only to UK buyers.
