1927-2027: Volvo celebrates 100 years with special-edition electric semi

September 7, 2026 · Electrek · Score: 12

Volvo is marking its 100th anniversary with a special-edition version of its FH16 Electric semi truck, ahead of the company's 2027 centennial. The truck gets two-tone paint, leather seating with "100 Year Edition" embroidery, ambient interior lighting, a welcome light that projects the anniversary branding onto the ground, and sleeper cab curtains printed with a timeline of Volvo's past truck models. Order books are open now, though pricing for this trim hasn't been announced.

This is a heavy-duty commercial truck, not a personal vehicle, so it has no direct bearing on home energy upgrades or rebates. The underlying FH Electric platform offers up to 540 kW (about 730 hp) of peak power, a 360 kWh battery (with an option up to 780 kWh), roughly 250 miles of loaded range, and fast charging that can take the battery from 20% to 80% in about an hour using 350 kW chargers.

For homeowners, the news is really just an industry milestone: a sign that electric trucking technology keeps maturing, with bigger batteries and faster charging becoming standard even in commemorative or premium models. It doesn't come with any rebate, program, or consumer-facing change to act on.
